Community Highlights

The spirit of a community often expresses itself through the arts. Fortunately for St. Cloud and Osceola County, the Osceola Center for the Arts champions artists and art programs in a wide variety of forms. The Center promotes performing and visual arts from Broadway shows to art shows. Drama, art and art programs contribute to the Center's goal of bringing the performing and visual arts to anyone of any age and background. Each new season provides a selection of musicals, classic Broadway favorites, concerts, lectures, and art shows.

At the nearby Heritage Park, big-name entertainers appear in concert and twice a year the biggest rodeo east of the Mississippi River, the Silver Spurs Rodeo, fills its name-sake arena.

An extensive array of parks, facilities, and programs are maintained through the City's Parks and Recreation Department. Existing recreational amenities include two gyms, six lighted Little League baseball and softball fields, a skate park, a BMX track, junior Olympic size pool, soccer complex with four fields, 10 neighborhood parks, 18-court horseshoe complex, shuffleboard, and senior center. To this add the new Water Tower Park, a beautiful neighborhood park with a basketball court, playground, swings, ball field, walking path, and restrooms, located on the south side of town.

A popular outdoor amenity in St. Cloud is the Lakefront Park on East Lake Tohopekaliga. Lakefront Park is the site of many community events and is well known for its white sand beach, shaded picnic tables, and two miles of paved pathways for walking, biking or inline skating. In addition to the Lakefront, residents can enjoy a refreshing taste of Mother Nature at both Peghorn Nature Park and Chisholm Park. Both venues offer hiking trails and picnic areas. Additionally, Chisholm Park offers a beach and swimming area, volleyball nets, a playground, and a public boat ramp providing access to East Lake.

A Growing Community

The sixth largest county in Florida, Osceola County is well known to be the fastest growing area in Central Florida. Between the 1990 and 2000 censuses, Osceola County's population grew by a tremendous 60.1%.
