Rebecca Brewer has joined the leadership team at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center in the role of Chief Executive Officer. Rebecca comes to St. Cloud from Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Haines City, a sister facility owned by Health Management Associates, Inc. (HMA). She was the Chief Operating Officer at Heart of Florida since January 2008, and during that time, she assisted three HMA hospitals as interim CEO.
Prior to joining HMA in 2008, Rebecca spent 26 years with Health Corporation of America (HCA, Inc.). She served as CEO of the 131-bed Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina, for 13 years and plans to apply that “staying power” to her position at St. Cloud Regional. She also held positions of Vice President of Patient Care Services and Director of Nursing during her time with HCA.
“It is both a wonderful opportunity and a privilege to be invited to serve in St. Cloud Regional Medical Centers’ top leadership position,” states Brewer. “I have been very impressed with the medical staff leadership, the community leaders I have been introduced to, and the quality of the individuals who staff this hospital.”
Brewer continues, “All the building blocks are in place to support tremendous growth in the scope and complexity of services that can be offered locally. I look forward to partnering with others to redefine St. Cloud Regional Medical Center’s long-term vision and implement strategies to achieve that goal.”
Rebecca is Board Certified in Healthcare Management and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University.
Both Rebecca and her husband , Ross, are native South Carolinians. They relocated to Central Florida two years ago and find this area attractive for their professional and personal lives. They have two grown children, Leslie Brewer Burton, who is a physical therapist practicing in Charleston, SC, and a son, Will Brewer Jr, who has recently moved back in with his parents and is working in real estate with his father. All four of the Brewers earned their undergraduate degrees from Clemson University and are loyal Tiger fans!
